“Jo Miller owns the stage…stylistically unique and genuine, with a sound that truly defines ‘northwest twang.’” — Billy Joe Huels
Jo Miller & Her Burly Roughnecks deliver super-swingin’, in-the-pocket, rockin’ hillbilly jump that draws from late ’40s through early ’60s honky-tonk and western swing — blending rhythm & blues, doo-wop, country, blues, and jazz into a joyous, dance-ready sound.
Previously, Jo Miller fronted Ranch Romance, a highly regarded, award-winning super group also featuring the phenomenal Nova Devonie on accordion and David “Twangmaster” Keenan on guitar. It’s 30 years later and they’re still in the groove, show-casing the tight vocal harmonies and instrumental prowess which make the Burly Roughnecks a stand out. Add Kelly Van Camp on drums, harmonica and fine vocals plus Forrest Marowitz on dog house bass to the mix and you’ve got yourself a righteous rhythm section that’ll make you get up and dance whether you want to or not.
Jo (aka Julie Biram) cut her teeth performing in high school at the “Pine Stump Symphony” and played the Lounge at Sun Mountain Lodge (5 nights a week, 4 sets a night) before trading her horse for a Volkswagen Beetle and heading out to the “Big City” — Seattle — where she’s spent years honing her skill. Jo has toured and recorded extensively and is delighted to return with the Burly Roughnecks for a special hometown appearance..
