Getting There
Winthrop is located on Highway 20 (North Cascade Highway) in the north-central part of Washington State. No matter which way you enter Winthrop, the scenery is outstanding. The North Cascades Highway 20 is a national scenic byway passing right through the North Cascades National Park. This route is a very popular way to arrive and depart Winthrop when coming from the West and heading back to the West. However the North Cascades Highway is closed in the winter.
Be sure to check with the Washington State Department of Transportation on highway conditions before travelling at any time of the year*.
