DUFFY BISHOP

DUFFY BISHOP

“Bishop is a revelation, belting dynamic blues … with the blistering guitar of her husband Chris Carlson.”

-Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Chronicle-October 22, 2011

Duffy Bishop is a force of nature. Her music is steeped in the blues, and her decades – long career has proved her to be a passionate performer who defies any one label. With a long and enduring career, Duffy Bishop is truly a gift that keeps on giving. Whether at a Festival or an intimate House Concert, her live shows are legendary music experiences.

A Pacific Northwest legend, Duffy has garnered multiple awards and is in the Halls of Fame for The Washington Blues Society, The Cascade Blues Association and the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. Duffy has opened for, or played with, such greats as Etta James, Ruth Brown, Bonnie Raitt and many more. Like the artists who inspired her, Duffy’s charisma, authentic voice, and ferocious presence will send chills down your spine and put a smile on your face. She was the subject of a 2010 documentary “Who Is Duffy Bishop and Why Is She Not World Famous?”, an exploration of her career and life.

With long-time collaborator, guitarist and husband Chris Carlson, Duffy has performed across the USA, Canada, Europe and Asia. Though the couple relocated several years ago to Florida, and tour heavily in the Southeast, the Northwest exerts a strong pull on them. Winthrop is thrilled to welcome them back to our main stage!
